The Seidel Family’s 1849 Austin County Cabin, which was originally located in the Austin County area of Texas, has been relocated here to a hilltop location overlooking Mill Creek.
The cabin has been fully renovated, with custom fixtures and reclaimed wood and stone improvements, as well as antiques that are one-of-a kind. This original log home was preserved as a fitting tribute to the pioneers who built for the future. The cabin has a single room with a queen bed, a kitchenette that includes a stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, dishes and pots and pans. The cabin comes with a full bath with clawfoot bathtub and shower, central air and heating, all linens including a hairdryer and Texas Lavender products, as well as a wood-burning, stone fireplace.
The Seidel House (also known as the Cabin on Hill at Starhill Farms) was built in Austin County for the Seidel Familie in 1849. The cabin, originally a two-log cabin dogtrot house connected by a breezeway, was built in 1849 for the Seidel Family. In 1939, ninety years later, the logs were closed to create a larger home. The family placed a capsule in the wall of the cabin to be found when the cabin was disassembled in 1992. This time capsule has been framed and preserved, and is currently displayed on the mantle of the cabin. Cabin on the hill was born in 1998 when one of the original Seidel House’s two cabins were relocated from the Starhill Farms to a secluded hilltop overlooking Mill Creek. It was then completely renovated to allow people to enjoy it, with custom fixtures and reclaimed wood.
