Check out the Tranquility Cabin located in a beautiful clearing, surrounded by woods and at the end of gravel road. Antler Cabins Vacations offers a number of cabins. The main level includes a fully equipped, full bathroom, antler chandelier in the dining room, a living space with a queen-size sleeper sofa and a TV with DVD, as well as a satellite package. A gas log fireplace is also housed in Brown County Stone next to a quiet sitting area. The upstairs has an antler chandelier and two separate bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, as well as a full bathroom and a gaming area with a Playstation II console, TV, video player and board games. The second bedroom has a separate reading area. The deck features a hot tub that is surrounded by woods. There is also a grill with charcoal (bring your own charcoal and fluid). The front porch is equipped with a swing and chairs for you to enjoy the view of the clearing, the woods, and wildlife. The clearing is perfect for throwing a Frisbee or playing catch.
A rowboat and fishing are also included in the nightly rental price at Lake Solitude, a 4-acre lake on the property. The lake has been stocked with bass and bluegill for catch-and release fishing. No fishing license is required. Swimming is not allowed. The Tranquility log cabin can accommodate up to 6 people. The cabin is located in a clearing with wooded views. The cabin features 2 queen-sized beds upstairs, as well as a queen sleeper in the lounge, 2 bathrooms, (one upstairs and one on the main floor), a fireplace with natural gas, 1 Satellite TV, DVD, and games in the upstairs TV, plus a year-round Hot Tub, covered front porch, swing and dining table.
David Chitwood, a Tennessee native, traveled to Tennessee in 1820 to stake his claim under the Land Act. He left the Daniel Boone State Forest in pursuit of 200 acres of rolling wooded land. The trees were so dense, it was like nighttime. The trees had to be cut down in order to make room for farmland. The Chitwoods cleared the land, built their barns and cabins, boiled their tree sap into maple syrup, harvested and smoked their meats and crops, and crafted quilts and furniture.
Nearly 200 years after its founding, the homestead is still serving a purpose. In true Hoosier style, the Chitwoods offer their guests a bit of tradition. Eight of the nine cabins were handcrafted by their owners. The cabins were built using native Indiana trees on a carved out spot that gives the feeling of a park. The interior reflects their love for travels to the West, with artifacts.
